Telescopes and Astronomy

There is nothing more awe inspiring than going out into the back garden late at night when all is quiet and observing a spiral galaxy millions of light years away. We are priviledged by nature that we are able to see clearly so far out into the universe with our own by direct vision and just the aid of a telescope. Technology has brought us an abundance of gadgets and powerful telescopes are one of them. Connecting up CCD cameras to feed the images to a computer is now an easily obtainable option for the keen amature astronomer. Programming a telescope to scan the sky for new commets is not unhead of. There is plenty of astronomy software out there. The main choice for your instrument is between reflectors and refractors. Refractors are fine if you are just starting out and want to shows your kids the planets. A serious enthusiast would go for a good Dobson Refractor.
