Would appreciate recommendations for "compact" analog 3 gauge consoles.
Capt. Bill...
|
Scubapro used to make a nice small three gauge console. Not sure if
they still do.
|
Scott...
|
Jeez.
An SPG on your left hip dring.
A bottom timer on your left wrist.
A compass either on a retractor or on your right wrist.
Al Wells...
|
I'm pretty sure the "right" way is with the BT on the right; at least
that is how I like it. I'll defer to Magilla on the correctness of it.
\"Magilla\"...
|
I'll stop before that point, but yes, I currently wear mine on the
right, probably same reason you do. More interested in the concept that
even Dan B. agrees with the no console idea.
SPG is not something I check as often as my BT (for some, this will be
their computer), nor is it something that always needs to be unclipped to
glance at, so having the BT handy on the wrist (or forearm) is a must.
Scott...
|
I dont scooter.
Grumman-581...
|
Agreed... Either get yourself a *real* motorcycle or stick with 4
wheels...
|
\"Magilla\"...
|
nor do I, except for occasional play. Not my reason.
Al, you use your left or right hand for the light?
Al Wells...
|
I can use either, but when I'm not doing anything else with my right
hand, it's more comfortable there, so that's where it is.
\"Magilla\"...
|
OK, figured wrong. I switched the BT to the right when I switched the
light to the left, same time I went to HID. Had an extra long cord
Clifford Beshers...
|
Same with me.
Al Wells...
|
I switched the Bt to the right hand when I discovered that I could see
it better there when my left hand was busy with my inflator hose,
drysuit valves, deco bottles etc which oten occured when I needed to
watch my depth and ascent/descent rate. I wear it on the inside of my
arm. It also works better there when scootering, which I don't do often
(I have a Gavin short body).
|
|
installed at that time to allow for the 4-6 inches more reach I seem to
have. ;-)
Clifford Beshers...
|
I've never felt the need for that, but the cord on my pro 6 is pretty
long. I just got a Helios , but haven't had it underwater yet.
Al Wells...
|
I have my cord cut so it is the correct length with the light in my left
hand. I have to shorten the standard cords to do this.
|
|
|
|
Scott...
|
FWIW, I use my left hand for the light.
Probably more than anything it is because I always wore my dive watch on my
left hand, and simply got used to doing it that way, or DITW.

If the guy doesn't want your friend's VR3, I know where there is a nice
Hyperspace that was used only a few times.
|
But if you want, I know a guy who just spent $2200 on a full blown VR3 with
all the accessories, dove it three times, and is back to bottom timer and
Homo Sapiens MkI Mod O computer.
He wants a bill for it.
