I have a very simple question. I'm using WinXP, and my mic is working
properly. When i speak into the mic, i want to hear immediate playback
from my speakers. Can i do that? I thought that's how it should behave
by default, but doesn't seem so. Can anybody help.

Open up the Windows mixer and un-tick the "Mute" box on the microphone
fader.

Note that some systems may not allow you to do what
you are asking because it is quite likely to cause
feedaback (a loud tone caused by the sound from
the computer speakers going back into the microphone,
and around and around and around.....)

!@# Latency? are you using the factory pc soundcard? if so expect at
least 50+ ms of delay from source to monitors....

The Asio-for-all drivers sort that out.

as far as feedback, isolation is the key..... isolate your speakers
from your mic or vice versa
