dangling entity...
Anybody have any suggestions on a free-air model in the size of 8",
4-ohm, decent excursion, reasonable price? They seem to be really hard
to find these days. So this is a call for something that is actually
available from a retailer.

Peter Larsen...
Monacor should be.

I know- you're probably asking why bother with free-airs...get a real
woofer. ...because ***I want them*** I need to replace a pair of
deteriorating JL 8IB4's, and I'm not interested in messing with
enclosures and amplifier upgrades.

Peter Larsen...
"also usable as electric guitar speaker" and Fs = 75 Hz, seems to be
what you ask for, sensitivity is 93 dB at 1 watt and 1 meter.

Anybody have suggestions? Pretty please? Laurie Dhue-level Pretty
please?

Cyrus...
Unless you purchase the exact woofers you have, you will need to
calculate for enclosure volume.

IIRC Tang Band makes a decent 8" as well.
